Enclosure System Operating Principle
Following are the steps required to install and replace a glove. The steps would be the
same for a window, bag, plug, or manipulator boot.

- The Enclosure Ring is clamped or welded to the panel. The clamp-in type is sealed to
the wall with an 'O' ring seal and spanner nut.
- A glove is fitted with an ejectable support ring and 'O' ring seal.

- The Ejection Tool with a glove loaded in place.
- The glove installed with the ejectable support ring locked into a groove in the I.D.
of the port. The 'O' ring is now under a high compression contact with the glove and I.D.
of the port.

- A locking ring is locked in place, preventing the glove from pulling out of the port
and providing a smooth contour to the port opening.

- To replace the glove, remove the locking ring and lock the loaded ejection tool to the
port using the bayonet locking arrangement. As the tool handwheel is turned, the new glove
will force the existing glove out of the port and place the new glove in its proper sealed
position. The seal of the new glove will have made contact with the port I.D. before the
existing glove loses its sealing contact, thereby maintaining the integrity of the
enclosure.

- The old glove is released from the port and the new glove is in its proper sealed
position.
- The locking ring is locked in place. The old glove can now be safely disposed of.
