CRL Manipulator Radiation Shielding

Shielding

Shielding can be provided for all Central Research Laboratories' manipulators to prevent large amounts of radiation from penetrating to the operator side of the cell. The amount of shielding is usually equal to the shielding wall thickness multiplied by the ratio of the wall shield and manipulator shield densities. The shielding is mounted in and/or around the manipulator thru tube and is normally located so it is centered in the cell wall.

A variety of shield materials and configurations are available for special requirements.
