Model L Telemanipulator

Model L

The Model L Telemanipulator uses quadruple, nitrile rubber, oil lubricated lip seals to provide essentially zero leak rate. Entirely satisfactory operation has been achieved in large vacuum chambers at 10E-7 torr. The seal interspace can be either pressurized or evacuated to monitor leakage, but a choice must be made at the time of ordering. The slave arm indexes to full horizontal position for installation or removal of a complete manipulator from the operator side of the cell. The slave end may be exchanged within the cell if necessary.

Model L Installation

Dimensions in inches Typical Formula
A Removal Clearance 97.50 B + G + 11
B Centerline Distance 57.00 C + D + W
C Slave Overhang (15 min.) 15.00
D Master Overhang (24 min.) 24.00
E Minimum Height Clearance 17.30 1.2(Z) + 10.8 - F
F Master Collapsed Length 29.50 *
G Slave Collapsed Length 29.50 0.7(Z) + 8.5
H Slave Extended Length 59.50 {SQRT[(R*R) + (L*L)]} - 6
I Minimum Cell Depth 30.00 G + 0.5
L Operating Height 56.00
M Mounting Height 96.00
R Tong Tip Radius at L 33.97
S Separation (28 min.) 28.00
W Wall Thickness (11 min.) 18.00
Z "Z" Motion 30.00 0.588(H) - 5

If H <49.94 or Z < 23.38, the following formulas apply:

Dimensions in inches Formula
E Minimum Height Clearance Z + 15.7 - F
G Slave Collapsed Length 0.5(Z) + 13.38
Z "Z" Motion 0.666(H) - 8.9

* F is usually equal to G but can be larger or smaller than G for operator comfort (min. F = 12")
W + C must be greater than or equal to 29".
Note: Allow space for manipulator accessories.
